Even though autumn seems a bit reluctant this year, the sunsets are coming right on schedule, earlier every day. Many evenings the sunsets have been breathtaking, but they last only a few fleeting moments. On this particular evening we had to hurry to get over to the hill at Ft. Walla Walla Park to catch the few fiery moments before the sun disappeared over the Horse Heaven Hills. Behind us, the Blue Mountains were bathed in the waning light, highlighting the open fields on their flanks. The Blues are particularly beautiful at this time of the year.

Beautiful, Diane! I've been making a conscious effort to catch the Tacoma sunset every night, since our windows look S & West. As you say, it's only visible for a few moments, then gone. But all the more precious for that.
ReplyDeleteI think you may get more splendid sunsets than we do because of the relative dryness there. We often wake up to fog, & the air remains moist all day. We are awaiting the onset of winter, with its incessant rains, somewhat trepidatiously. So far spring, summer & fall have all had their lovely moments, so we'll see what winter will deliver.
