Changing Time and Seasons

Daylight savings ended overnight, and we're feeling a bit discombobulated. It'll take a few days for our body clocks to catch up with the time change. Even though this weekend was Fall Release at Walla Walla Valley wineries, there's already a hint of the winter to come. A cold, blustery wind rattled the windows overnight, and the weather map shows a few snow squalls up in the Blue Mountains.

Bennington Lake is still showing its fall colors and a changing variety of migratory birds. Some stay for a few days, others for the winter. The weekly hikes around the lake with Audubon members take place on Tuesday mornings. You never know what they'll see.Check their website for starting times.

We're still waiting for our flock of wigeons to arrive at the pond below us in Lions Park. They're a bit late this year, which we hope means that winter is not in a big hurry to arrive. The cottonwoods around the pond are still sporting their golden leaves, quite a contrast to the dark clouds which have blown in. Change is in the air.
